Why study with us
The School of Science and Technology serves students who want careers in computing, laboratory science, quality control, and technical research support. RECTEM offers NBTE National Diploma programmes in Computer Science and Science Laboratory Technology (SLT)—both balancing analytical theory with extensive practical sessions.
Across Nigerian polytechnics, science schools are known for rigorous laboratory hours, instrumentation training, and ICT projects. Federal and state institutions publish clear ND/HND pathways, SIWES requirements, and graduate outcomes; RECTEM aligns with these national expectations while delivering training in Redemption City's secure, purpose-built campus.
Whether you prefer programming and systems support or chemical and biological laboratory work, our school provides structured progression from ND to HND and beyond.
Academic pathways
ND study spans four semesters of lectures, laboratory practicals, and projects, with SIWES placement in industry, hospitals, research units, or quality-control laboratories. Graduates work as laboratory technologists, IT support staff, or junior developers, with options to pursue HND and degree programmes.
Computer Science (ND)
Students study programming, data structures, computer architecture, networking, and systems analysis with project work each year. Graduates support software teams, IT departments, and digital service providers as technicians and junior developers.
Science Laboratory Technology
SLT trains technologists for industrial, medical, environmental, food, and educational laboratories. You learn standard test methods, calibration, quality control, safety, and reporting—competencies required in oil and gas, manufacturing, hospitals, and research institutes.
Laboratories and ICT centres
RECTEM invests in science laboratories and computer facilities so students repeat experiments, validate results, and use industry-relevant tools. This hands-on emphasis matches the NBTE curriculum's professional and foundation course components.
Research and project culture
Students complete projects that solve defined problems—whether a simple business application, a laboratory investigation, or a quality-assurance study. Project work builds communication skills and portfolios useful in job interviews.
SIWES in science and tech roles
Industrial placement may be in IT firms, production plants, hospitals, water-quality units, or school laboratories. Supervised experience bridges the gap between student exercises and workplace pace, volume, and accountability.
Employability across sectors
Science and technology graduates are hired in healthcare labs, oil and gas, FMCG quality units, education, startups, and government agencies. Technical skills, accuracy, and adaptability make ND holders valuable in both public and private sectors.
